Spending time by the coast or stomping up a hill, drinking in the gorgeous patterns, textures and colours is where my journey begins. Taking photographs, making free, loose paintings (if the weather permits) and gathering information fuels my creative journey.
Sketching expressively outside is the staring point to gathering information for painting back in my studio.
I use these works on paper to crop and collage to inform my paintings….working out composition, colour palettes and textural details that I can take forward into my embroideries.
